Getting started

Getting started

How do I save my first recipe?

Tap the + button on the home tab and choose your input method. You can paste a URL from any recipe site, take a photo of a cookbook page, speak the recipe out loud, share from Instagram or TikTok, import a Paprika library, or type it manually. Most users start with the URL paste — it's the fastest way to load a recipe.

How do I migrate from Paprika?

In Paprika, go to Settings → Backup Recipes → Save to File. You'll get a .paprikarecipes file. Open it on your phone and choose 'Open in Heard Recipes.' The whole library — recipes, photos, categories, notes — imports in one tap. No re-typing.

Does Heard Recipes work offline?

Heard Recipes works fully offline for saved recipes. You can browse, cook, and edit recipes without an internet connection. The features that need a connection are URL parsing, AI assistant, photo OCR, and social media import — anything that has to call out to a server. Cook mode itself is fully offline.

Pricing & purchases

Pricing & purchases

Is Heard Unlimited really a one-time purchase?

Yes. $2.99 once, forever. No subscription, no annual renewal, no surprise charges. Apple Family Sharing is supported, so one purchase covers your whole household.

What if I bought Heard Unlimited and want a refund?

Refunds are handled by Apple and Google per their standard policies. For App Store purchases, request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com. For Google Play, request through your Google Play account. We honor all platform refund decisions.

How does Heard Kitchen billing work?

Heard Kitchen has three monthly tiers: Kitchen Solo is $9.99/month for 1 kitchen, Kitchen Team is $24.99/month for up to 3 kitchens, and Kitchen Pro is $49.99/month for up to 10 kitchens. Billing happens through the App Store or Google Play, so you can manage and cancel from your existing subscription settings.

Features & troubleshooting

Features & troubleshooting

A recipe URL didn't parse correctly. What do I do?

Heard Recipes supports 50,000+ recipe sites and our parser pipeline catches about 97% of them on the first try. If a recipe didn't parse cleanly, try sharing the URL again — sometimes a site that was blocked yesterday works today. If it still fails, you can manually edit the recipe to fix any missing fields, or send us the URL at support@heardrecipes.com and we'll add it to our test set.

How does Heard Recipes' allergen detection work?

In Settings → Allergens, mark which of the Big 9 (milk, eggs, fish, shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat, soy, sesame) apply to you. Heard Recipes uses an 800+ ingredient mapping database to catch hidden allergens — tahini under sesame, ghee under milk, Worcestershire under fish. Affected recipes show a clear red warning and the specific trigger ingredient is highlighted.

Can I use Heard Recipes on multiple devices?

Yes. Heard Unlimited supports Apple Family Sharing on iOS and is available cross-platform. Sign in with your account on iPhone, iPad, and Android and your recipes sync across all of them. One $2.99 purchase covers every device you own.

How do I activate cook mode?

Open any recipe and tap the 'Cook' button at the bottom. You'll enter the big-text step-by-step view with screen stay-on enabled. Voice commands like 'next step,' 'repeat,' and 'set timer ten minutes' work automatically. To exit cook mode, swipe down or say 'exit.'

Privacy & data

Privacy & data

Does Heard Recipes sell my data?

No. We don't sell your data, we don't share it with advertisers, and we don't train AI models on your recipes. The full details are in our Privacy Policy. Heard Recipes makes money from app purchases, not from monetizing user data.

How do I delete my account?

Go to Settings → Account → Delete Account. This permanently removes your account, all your recipes, and all your data from our servers. The action cannot be undone. If you change your mind later, you'll need to start a fresh account.

Where are my recipes stored?

Recipes are stored locally on your device and synced through Supabase (our backend). Sync data is encrypted in transit and at rest. You own your recipes and you can export them at any time from Settings → Export.
